So funny! Especially because I'm always encouraging you to drink milk to quiet your period pains. The sad part is that had that first milk commercial not been in the midst of feminist commentary, I don't think I would've noticed all of the stereotypes in it.
In the interest of fairness, I have to say I didn't notice the sexism in the deoderant commercial. I mean, yeah, it's stupid and overly earnest, but it didn't make me want to d--- punch anyone.
The milk commercials on the other hand...HOLY CRAP. Let's just say it's a good thing I live alone and that no one besides Chihuahua had to listen to the righteously feminist screams.
Kelly, I think the deodorant commercial was playing off a lot of stereotypes that women are overly emotional and easily lost/misguided. Not to get too overanalytical, but the snake and the tree reminded me almost instantly of the Garden of Eden where Eve has long been blamed for the downfall of mankind. And I don't think it's likely we'll see a deodorant ad any time soon with a guy looking helpless wandering around a dark and scary forest.
Oh--and I'm going to add my 2 cents to the milk vs. no milk while menstruating debate. ;) I had a yoga teacher once tell me that I should avoid all dairy products during my period because they would "exacerbate my emotional maternal nature." *waves hand* sparkles!

(The reviewing the wishes part was the best.)
Yeah, I almost didn't share this video, just because I don't want to give your milk-cures-cramps theory any validation.

I was going to post a reply to this, but instead I'm going to write my own post. Boo-yah.
